September meeting, Mon. 9/9/2019

The first meeting of Quilt North’s 2019-2020 guild year is Monday, September 9th. Usually our meetings are on the first Monday of the month, but since Labor Day is always that Monday in September, we get to extend our summer break by a week.

Join us in welcoming quilt artist Sharon Bottle Souva, who will be speaking on “Inspirations:  Looking for Ideas, Design, and Composition.” Doors open at 6:45 at the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, 975 Route 146, Clifton Park, NY. June meeting & reception, tomorrow 6/3

The last meeting of our 2018-2019 guild year is tomorrow evening, Monday, June 3rd.

Doors at the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, 975 Route 146, Clifton Park, open at 6:45 pm. We will have a couple of special speakers, our Challenge quilts, show and tell, and a reception with refreshments provided by the guild. Here’s a chance to visit with friends before the summer.

Grey fabrics are being swapped this month. There will not be a Freebie table or a dog bed scrap collection.

May meeting tonight, May 6th, with David Taylor

Our May meeting is this evening, Monday, May 6th, with speaker David Taylor. Can’t wait to hear him speak and see his beautiful quilts. David is an internationally recognized, award-winning art quilter from Henniker, New Hampshire. He teaches at numerous venues throughout the country and the world. David’s art quilts are created using hand applique and are quilted on his HQ Sweet Sixteen. Visit his web site to read more about him and see some of his work. Quilter’s Market this weekend

Our 2nd annual sale of quilting and sewing related items is scheduled for Sun. May 5, 2019 from 10 am – 2 pm at the Clifton Park Elks, 695 Mac Elroy Road, Ballston Lake, NY 12019. There is a $3 entrance fee. Just like last year’s fun event, there should be lots of great buys. The Elks will be selling beverages, sweets, and luncheon items throughout the day too. April meeting Mon., April 1st with Karen Combs

Our April guild meeting is tomorrow evening, Monday, Apr. 1, 2019. Karen Combs is our speaker and workshop teacher this month. Karen will be talking about “Quilts of Illusion.” Explore the world of optical illusions with Karen as she shows you some of the wonderful quilts that she has created. Can’t wait to see what is sure to be a beautiful and inspiring trunk show.

Spring flower fabric for swapping. This is such a great way to expand your stash! Bring 30 6-1/2 inch squares of fabric to the meeting, all cut from the same fabric. Cut and put in a clear one gallon size zip lock bag with your name on it. During the meeting, we will separate and distribute them evenly, so you will receive them back that night

March meeting – Mon., March 4th with Erin Underwood

Tomorrow evening, Monday, Mar. 4, 2019, is our March guild meeting. Erin Underwood is our speaker and workshop teacher this month. February meeting, Monday, Feb. 4, 2019 with Debbie Wendt

Our February speaker and workshop teacher Debbie Wendt, with be speaking about “Egyptian Tentmakers’ Applique” at our guild meeting Monday evening. January meeting – Mon., Jan. 7, 2019 Comfort quilt workshop at the Library

Our January meeting is tomorrow, Mon., January 9th. It is our annual Comfort Quilts Workshop held at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Library, 475 Moe Road Clifton Park, NY 12065 from 2 pm to 7:30 pm. Look for us in the big room upstairs. Drop in or stay the day as we make quilts that will be distributed to those in need.

If you plan on sewing, bring your sewing machine and accessories. If you’re interested in tying quilts, please bring your scissors and large needles. Feel like ironing tops and backs? We’ll need folks to do that too. As you can see, there’s something for everyone.

Paula Dunn, our Comfort Quilts chair, has tops to be quilted or tied and many kits ready to be sewn. Write to the address on this page if you have any questions.

Pizza, salad and drinks will be provided by the guild for dinner. Treats to share are always appreciated! Hope to see you there.

Holiday Party tomorrow, Mon., Dec 3, 2018

The Quilt North December guild meeting is our annual Holiday Party at the Shenendehowa Adult Community Center, 6 Clifton Common Court, Clifton Park, NY 12065. Doors open at 6 pm. It’s always a fun way to kick off the holidays.
