And the 2014-15 Guild Challenge is…

Pre-cuts!

The guild challenge this year is to make a quilt using pre-cut fabrics — jelly rolls, layer cakes, charm squares, honey buns, turnovers, etc. — that you’ve collected on your travels. Have you been tempted by the array of beautiful fabrics in these, but thought “now what am I going to do with this” once you’re home? Here’s your chance to explore their uses in your quilt making and bust your stash. If you don’t have a pre-cut pack and want to participate, find one you like and get sewing! There are lots of resources on the web for using pre-cuts; the Moda Bake Shop is a good one to start with.

There is no restriction on size or technique. You can add other fabrics, but the base of the quilt should be a pre-cut, not including fat quarter bundles. Quilts are due at the June meeting. When you enter, please let us know about the pre-cut you started with.

Announcing the 2014-15 President’s Challenge: SOLIDS!

Members are challenged to make quilts using only solid fabrics. No restriction on size or technique. I have always been attracted to and appreciated quilts made with solid fabrics. From historic cheddar and red applique quilts to traditional Amish quilts to many of the quilts of today’s modern quilt movement, they have a timeless quality. Have fun — make one!
