Leap and the Net will Appear
Even an internationally recognized quilter, teacher, author, and the first non-American president of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) has her ups and downs. . . A believer in serendipity, innovation, and experimentation, Lisa Walton takes chances. Sometimes she’s successful, sometimes. . . not so much. Join Quilt North in November when Lisa–all the way from Sydney, Australia–takes us on her quilting adventures. We’ll be inspired by how her work has developed over the years and the milestones and “leaps” she has taken. Perhaps we’ll even choose to take more creative risks ourselves . . .Clink the link below to register for this lecture.
BIO. Lisa’s quilts have been exhibited in solo and joint exhibitions and her work is included in collections in the United States, Australia, and the UK. She has been awarded many prizes for her quilts, including major international and Australian Quilt shows. She was recently invited to exhibit at Quiltfestival in the Netherlands, but due to Covid the exhibit was displayed virtually. You can see the exhibit here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uw0J-oMl_A
Lisa is passionate about sharing knowledge and teaching. She was awarded the Jewel Pearce Patterson Scholarship for Quilting Teachers by the International Quilt Festival in Houston. She has appeared on Quilting Arts TV and The Quilt Show. Her book, Beautiful Building Block Quilts, was published by C&T Publishing. Check out Lisa’s YouTube Channel for a demo on her facing technique https://youtu.be/tvUdrC3ZXZA or binge-watch her series, Quilting Stories, at https://youtu.be/pG_g12Q6mx0. Quilt North members will recognize many of the people she interviews: Alex Anderson, Victoria Findlay Wolfe, Hollis Chatelain, Sheila Frampton Cooper, Paula Nadelstern, Susie Monday, and Rosalie Dace, to name a few.
